Valvetrain control was considered as a whole system. Though the 2.23-/1.88-inch stainless steel valves weren’t really heavy, and titanium retainers helped lighten the load, the COMP solid-roller camshaft was pretty aggressive, so a good amount of spring pressure was needed to keep the valves from bouncing and not losing their seal. Large ⅜-inch diameter pushrods are a necessity as well to keep from buckling or flexing. View Related Article
