It takes a massive carburetor to feed a massive engine. The 1,075-cfm King Demon is based on a Holley 4500-style design and delivered a super-flat fuel curve to the mill. During initial testing, the Shorts used normal race gas but at the EMC, VP Q16 fuel was used, which is an oxygenated fuel. Jetting up by around 6 percent is required to keep the engine happy, but the resulting power increases from the fuel can be significant. View Related Article
