The rule of thumb with gas flow is to use as little as necessary. You don’t want to waste expensive gas, and excessive gas can actually work against the weld. You do need decent ventilation, but try to avoid windy conditions and drafts since they’ll just blow away your shielding gas and increase the odds of contamination and porosity. View Related Article
