The Dart SHP block has rod-clearance notches for big stroke applications, and it locates the dipstick on the passenger side, which means that many of the most popular performance oil pans won’t fit. We had a Moroso kick-out pan on our last engine in the Laguna where this engine is destined. Moroso is in the process of building an oil pan for this application and should have it available about the time you’re reading this article. Jeff Lake at Dart measured the pickup tube height to make sure it would work with the oil pan that will be used during the dyno test.
