Carb Tuning for Cornering - Corner Capable

Slowing the actuation of the secondary improves the part-throttle response by allowing the airspeed through the carb to accelerate before the secondary is brought into play.

This change in secondary timing will bring the secondary on line when the booster signal is more advantageous. The change is made via a linkage modification using the upper hole. At full throttle the secondary will reach wide open just as before.

Because our Laguna is set up for corner burning as well as strip performance, taller bowl vents were added to the main body to reduce the chance of fuel splashing out the vents.

To aid in light throttle enrichment, the pink accelerator pump cam was replaced with a green color-coded unit. This cam provides more fuel earlier in the pump's operation.

While the performance mods promised to cure our carb's idiosyncrasies, it is important not to neglect the basics when the carb is installed, including setting up the float level, and then fine-tuning the idle mixture and speed settings.

With The Carb Shop's reworked carb, the change in character in Project Talladega was noticeable as soon as we pulled out of the shop and started down the road. It's nice traveling with the peace of mind of knowing your carb will not let you down no matter how hard you might push it.
