ARP studs and fasteners were used throughout the engine to keep all of the important parts from moving when they weren't supposed to, and looking good at the same time.  COMP Cams' beltdrive has a...  COMP Cams' beltdrive has a unique tapered front end plate that allows adjustment of the camshaft endplay without the use of shims. Although we used a crank trigger to reduce ignition timing fluctuation, we still set endplay at a tight .004 inch to keep the bumpstick from walking back and forth.  The port locations were moved...  The port locations were moved rather significantly. Raising the runners up .600 inch and the "long" ports over .375, we were able to minimize the cross-sectional area for the amount of airflow we were looking to get. Typical big-block cylinder heads can vary 20-30 cfm easily between the long and short ports, and with the modified heads we were able to get the difference to less than 10 cfm, most of that over .700-inch lift.  OK, so what does this equate...  OK, so what does this equate to in the real world? Recently, we took the Jag to Ohio Valley Raceway for some test passes to see how it would do. With a totally street-legal and very much street-driven car weighing 2,900 pounds, a 2,800 stall converter, full 3.5-inch exhaust, mufflers, and 3.73 gears, the car immediately busted off a 6.16 in the eighth-mile. The wideband O2 sensor showed way lean, probably from the junk gas we got at the pump on our way, but however you look at it, this is a legit mid 9-second pump-gas street car now. How's that for some rockin' heavy metal?  COMP's new Race Elite series...  COMP's new Race Elite series roller lifters were totally bombproof, and we really tried to destroy them. Running almost 1,000 pounds of spring pressure with PAC springs and Smith Brothers .145-inch wall heavy-duty pushrods, the rollers showed no signs of wear at all after three cams and 50 hard dyno pulls.  Dyno queen? No sir. It took...  Dyno queen? No sir. It took a shoehorn the size of Texas and a lot of 2 a.m. work nights, but Kris Henderson managed to squeeze the massive big-block into his '59 Jaguar.
