The easiest way to neck down the inlets and outlets on a muffler is by welding on a reducer cone. The downside is that they're hard to find in a 4- to 3 1/2-inch diameter, and cost $25-$35 a pop. Being the skilled welder that he is, Buck narrowed down the existing sections of tubing on the mufflers by making a series of cuts around the circumference of the inlets and outlets.
