When he began using the "scavenger" pumps, Mike used a -12 line from the pan to the pump. Later, he found that a -16 line would work even better. Eliminating the sharp turns in the block and using a large feed line allowed the standard-volume pump gears to kick out more oil than a normal high-volume pump using the block oil passages. Eagle rods have proven themselves... Eagle rods have proven themselves to be pretty bombproof, and the JE pistons are equally stout. The large chamfer in the Speed Pro bearings allows the crank grinder to leave a large fillet when grinding the 'shaft. Regarding the strength of a properly prepared stock crankshaft, as the slogan goes, Buick, it's all good. Mike Phillips points out that... Mike Phillips points out that his 1.75 ratio rockers are on the edge of what is possible in the stock location. Rules required that the OEM mounting points be used, negating the option of moving the rockers outward. The main girdle is no lightweight... The main girdle is no lightweight slouch. This setup with the halo structure joining all of the mains also uses a spacer at the front to keep the oil pan from having to be custom made. Standoffs are used to mount a full-length windage tray below the spinning crank. Inside the stock block, the... Inside the stock block, the lifters are supported by an aluminum and epoxy structure, while drain holes keep the oil from pooling and starving the pump. The "scavenger" pump has external... The "scavenger" pump has external inlet and outlet fittings as well as an externally adjustable pressure regulator. It's the best of all worlds.
