2008 Srt8 Dodge Charger Vortech Kit
Here is a picture of the entire Vortech SRT8 kit, minus the Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump. Everything you need is included, except the simple tools used during the installation. As seen here, this kit runs around $5,200 street price (polished).

2008 Srt8 Dodge Charger Front End
Mounting the heat exchanger requires the front bumper to come off. I would start my installation here because it's relatively easy to remove the nose of a Chrysler LX platform car. I've done it many times, and it takes about 25 minutes. If it's your first time, expect it to take twice as long. Find a good location to mount the heat exchanger using the accompanying straps to hold it into place. When you're done, run the wires, coolant hoses, and hose clamps.

Mock up the coolant tank bracket against the framerail. Make a couple of pilot holes with a 5/32-inch drill bit. Assemble the transfer pump, reservoir, and brackets, then mount it with the provided screws. Then you can button the front end back up, or wait until you're done with the entire install.

2008 Srt8 Dodge Charger Boost A Pump
The Kenne Bell Boost-A-Pump was the tool of choice for the Vortech engineers because it handily sidesteps the need to swap the factory pump for a larger one. The Boost-A-Pump triggers additional voltage to the stock fuel pump once manifold pressure reaches 5 psi; however, the SRT8 kit maxes out just under that, and that's why Vortech modifies the Hobbs pressure sensor to come on at just 2.5 psi. We mounted the control unit under the seat, and wired it per the Kenne Bell instructions.

2008 Srt8 Dodge Charger Fuel Injectors
To accommodate the extra power at the necessary air/fuel ratio, you must install larger fuel injectors and a boost kit for the fuel pump. For the injectors, just remove the bolts that secure the clamps to the fuel rails, and lift the rails up. Swap in the new injectors and replace the fuel rails. While you're at this stage, you also want to remove all the factory intake ducting, remove the serpentine belt (note the routing), and unbolt your power steering pump to make way for the blower assembly.

2008 Srt8 Dodge Charger Blower Bracket
Here I am having my picture taken as I assemble the blower bracket hardware. It's always nice doing something while a group of people are standing around watching you, especially when one of those people is wielding a camera. (Get over it. You should be used to that by now.-Ed.) The bracket assembly is essentially two solid billet aluminum plates and one steel plate separated by seven aluminum dowel spacers. The cogged belt transfer shaft mounts in the main plate. It's lucky for you that Vortech plans to preassemble this entire thing for you, so you can proceed to the next step.

When you pull the preassembled bracket assembly out of the box, this is what it should look like. Vortech also plans to have the blower head already bolted on, and the cogged belt already connected to the pulley transfer shaft.

Lower the bracket assembly into the engine bay, and tighten the bracket bolts to the engine. As I mentioned, Vortech says it'll ship this with the blower attached, so your install may be a little different.

2008 Srt8 Dodge Charger Under Hood
There are four bolts that protrude from the bracket into the engine. Use a half-inch ratchet to cinch these down. These are real easy to access, as you can see here. Now's also the time to reattach your power steering pump.

Attach the idler pulley with a 9/16-inch wrench. This must be done after mounting the bracket because it covers some of the bolts needed to attach the bracket to the cylinder head.

ow you can mount the blower to the assembly-or loosen the blower to attach the air filter if your blower already came attached to the bracket. When doing this step, you must hold the air filter in its intended position and then carefully massage the filter onto the blower as you move the blower into position. This is necessary because of the limited amount of space in this area of the engine bay.

Now install Vortech's longer six-rib serpentine belt, following your notes from when you removed the stock one. If you're like me, and the good ol' short-term memory isn't good enough, Vortech provides instructions for this step.
