The supercharger's driveshaft can experience damaging vibrations that cause it to distort and become unstable at certain speeds. The cure to this problem was to change the material to carbon fiber, which is plenty strong and lighter than steel or aluminum. The carbon fiber is bound to the ends using an epoxy process.
