2003 Mustang Gt Oil System
Many superchargers use an external oil feed line that requires the oil pan to be drilled and tapped for the return. This kit, however, features a self-contained oiling system that has a single line used as a drain.

Ricky Best, media relations manager at Vortech, helped us with the install. Here, he is dropping the fuel tank to remove the fuel pump assembly. This step was the only source of grief, due to heavy, awkward parts.

This new fuel pump slips in place of the old one (right). Half a dozen retention screws are used to keep this assembly together. Be sure to keep careful track of these; they match the color of concrete exactly.

The new 38-pound injectors deliver the necessary fuel to keep up with the extra air. The injector retainer rail unbolts easily, and the injectors can quickly be swapped.

2003 Mustang Gt Spark Plugs
With the injectors removed, the coils and spark plugs are easy to access. Although not mandatory for installation, Vortech recommends one or two heat ranges cooler, depending on how aggressive the boost is. Our plugs were the originals, and were due to be replaced anyway.

With this much power waiting in the wings, you'll have a smile on your face too! The idler pulleys have been rearranged on the engine's accessory drive so that there is plenty of room for the supercharger to bolt in.

2003 Mustang Gt Hose
Vortech uses stainless hose clamps to hold the radiator hose to the supplied extension. The relocation of the hose keeps things neat and tidy. The installation instructions ask for a gallon of coolant to be drained for this process, but we opted to replace it all (it was, like the plugs, as old as the car itself).

2003 Mustang Gt Air Filter
The factory mass airflow sensor is retained; however, the relocation of the sensor and filter requires you to open up the wiring harness loom to allow the wiring to follow a longer path.

This is where the lift really helps out; it almost looks too easy, doesn't it? The air cleaner assembly tucks in between the inner and outer fender, keeping hot engine air out.

2003 Mustang Gt Dyno
The Mustang dynamometer brings proof of significant gains. With power still on the rise at 6,000 rpm, the usable powerband would have extended beyond the 6,050-rpm rev limit. Nevertheless, the octane requirements of anything beyond 9 psi of boost will necessarily limit your peak rpm.

2003 Mustang Gt Gas
The dyno isn't the best place to save fuel, but consumer feedback shows the fuel mileage can actually improve because the efficiency of the engine is improved. This is not guaranteed to those with a lead foot, however. Our mileage, with Hunkins at the wheel, only took a slight hit, going from 23 mpg to 21. Not a bad hit for a 100hp increase.
