Fixed calipers are not found on your typical factory car due to their cost and the fact that they are less forgiving in the manufacturing process. Notice the use of different sized pistons. This is known as piston differential, and helps keep the pad flat against the rotor. You can also tell that this is a two-piece caliper since it has the crossover tube for the brake fluid. Two-piece calipers can be as strong or even stronger than mono-block calipers if designed properly.
