Suction by the cylinder pulls air through the venturi. In doing so, it speeds up as it reaches the choke point (as depicted by the red curve on the graph above). As this happens, the pressure drops (blue line). Tapping into the minor diameter of the venturi and connecting it to a fuel supply would result in a simple carburetor. View Related Article
