The older LA series of engines oiled the rockers through a block passage that fed into a passage in the heads leading to the rocker shaft. Some early Magnum blocks still carried the passage, but most did not. The original boss for the passage is still there, but was not drilled, as seen on this late Magnum block (pointer). The lack of an oil provision makes swapping LA heads impractical on a late Magnum, but Magnum heads can be readily swapped onto an LA engine. View Related Article
