Oil flow upstairs must be metered by the lifters. Most aftermarket hydraulic lifters have this provision, with the oiling hole in the center of the pushrod seat (right) being the usual telltale sign. OEM non Magnum lifters (left) lack the oiling provision, and need to be replaced with the oiling type to work with a Magnum top-end.
