Magnum engines replaced the familiar LA series when the 318 became the 5.2 Magnum in 1992, and the 360 became the 5.7 Magnum in 1993. Significant revisions marked improvements in both engines. Although the engines were limited in production to V-8 truck, SUV, and van applications, they are popular in performance applications. This is largely due to the success of Mopar Performance's crate engine program.
