Just like any other small-block Chevy, you do need to align the dot on the cam gear with the one on the crankshaft gear before removing the cam. Note the gerotor oil pump that is driven off the front of the crank. This design reduces friction and mechanical inaccuracies compared to the standard camshaft-driven pump drive. View Related Article
