The “Snake and Mongoose” movie will be screened January 12-17 (at select times) during the Scottsdale, Arizona, Barrett-Jackson Auction. The screenings will be free to general admission ticketholders, and will be held at the Miller Lite Garage. It’s also the first-ever feature film screened at a Barrett-Jackson event, which makes this a unique experience to attendees.
The “Snake and Mongoose” film tells the story of two legendary drag racers, Don ("the Snake") Prudhomme and Tom ("the Mongoose") McEwen. The duo was sponsored by Mattel's Hot Wheels brand in the early 1970s, which brought drag racing into the mainstream. The Snake and Mongoose team traveled the nation, putting on shows for spectators at race tracks, nationwide. With the sponsorship from Mattel, they revolutionized sports marketing forever.
Following the four-day screening of the “Snake and Mongoose” film, the authentic Hot Wheels Haulers and Funny Cars used in the 70s, by Prudhomme and McEwen, will cross the auction block. They will go to sale Saturday, January 18th between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM (PST).
To see the action, tune-in to Fox broadcast stations to see these iconic vehicles go to auction. All other Barrett-Jackson events from January 12-19, 2014, will be aired on Fox Sports 1 (Direct TV - 219) and Fox Sports 2 (Direct TV - 618).
