Good news for 1967 Chevy Nova fans, Barrett-Jackson plans to auction one of Popular Hot Rodding’s cover cars this upcoming January 12th-19th, 2014 at the WestWorld of Scottsdale, Arizona. Plan to be there for Lot: 1355 if you’re interested in getting your paws on the one-of-a-kind race car. It’s sure to go for some big bucks, definitely worth it if you ask us.
The 1967 Nova features an array of goodies, starting with the drivetrain. Squeezed between the fenders is a 427ci LS2 that’s been sleeved and stroked. A Lunati rotating assembly and cam help churn out 600hp. A Wegner valve train keeps the air flowing through CNC-ported LS6 heads and out custom, 1 3/4-inch stainless headers connected to a 3-inch exhaust with X-pipe and bumper outlet. Out back, a 16-gallon fuel cell feeds the Aeromotive A1000 fuel pump that helps to keep the motor alive.
The powerhouse of the 1967 Chevy II Nova hooks-up to a TKO-600 5-speed transmission equipped with a RPS clutch and Howe throw-out bearing setup. A Moser Engineering 9-inch rearend with nodular iron third member delivers the torque to a Detroit Truetrac differential with 3.25:1 ratio gears. All the power is sent through 31-spine axles, and then to the wheels.
The 46-year old Chevy II rides on an Art Morrison Engineering chassis with a one-off floor, firewall, trunk, and suspension. A Katz Tsubai and SLA custom-designed suspension equipped with a 3-link setup in the rear makes the Chevy glide through the corners. The whole rig utilizes Wilwood brakes and a Wilwood master cylinder and custom pedal for the stopping power.
The 1967 Chevrolet Chevy II sports stylized Kinesis K18 3-piece rims at all four corners; the wheels measure 18x9-inch up front, 18x11-inch in the rear. All the rims are wrapped in Pirelli Zero Corsa tires; the rubber is sized at P265/35/ZR18 up front and P315/30/ZR18 in the rear.
Both the interior and exterior are decked-out in Black and Blue. The inside of the Nova is race-themed with Sparco Monza race seats and a Sparco 3-spoke racing wheel. A Vintage Air Gen IV Magnum evaporator and black anodized controls keeps the driver and passengers cool in the summer, all while an iPod/iPhone stereo with trunk-mounted amp, subwoofer and 5-speaker stereo keep the music thumpin’. The outside of the car is dripping in flawless, glass-like paint.
