The Brevard Alzheimer's Foundation is hosting their annual Alzheimer's Barbeque and Car Drawing on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 6 p.m. This year's event will be our 19th Annual ALZ BBQ at the Wickham Park Pavilion, in Melbourne, Fla. Ticket prices are one for $25, six for $100, and 15 for $200. Each ticket includes complimentary food, drinks, and the chance to win a matching numbers 1970 Plymouth Superbird.

The Plymouth Superbird has become very valuable. A Superbird can fetch anywhere from $300,000 to $2,000,000 with the right collector. The car was only built for one model year, 1970, making the rarity of a true Superbird something very special.

To our knowledge, this is one of two Superbirds ever given away for charity in the world. In 2008, the year one restoration catalog ran a Superbird through the Barrett Jackson auction to benefit the Darrell Gwynn Foundation, and it brought $676,000.

Among many notable donors and community leaders in attendance this year, will be Geoff Bodine, a NASCAR great, and the "savior of the United States bobsled team," to sign autographs for supporters. A.J. Hiers, of the Boniface Hiers Automotive Group, will also be in attendance to unveil next year's car.
