’60-65 Ford Falcon Rack
A complete power rack-and-pinion conversion kit is now available for the often ignored ’60-65 Ford Falcon/Mercury Comet. Flaming River claims their kit provides greatly improved steering and handling, and needs no cutting, drilling, or welding for installation; the kit simply bolts into the vehicle’s original mounting holes using basic handtools. This power rack kit is available with a floor-shift tilt steering column ($2,040), column-shift tilt steering column ($2,190), or no column at all ($1,890). A brand-new Billet-Power rack-and-pinion is included, and provides more than 6 inches of travel and a full turning radius, lock-to-lock, stop to stop. Flaming River also offers coated small-block Ford long-tube exhaust headers to eliminate clearance issues (FR50003C). Every Flaming River power rack-and-pinion is made in the USA, is fluid and pressure tested before it leaves their facility, and comes with lifetime serviceability.
These Top End kits are based on the popular Edelbrock Total Power Package concept of combining dyno-matched components for dyno-tested results. Edelbrock E-Street Power Package Top End Kits feature the best combination of performance components at an affordable price, and they are made in the USA. E-Street Top End kits include an Edelbrock Performer or Performer RPM intake, E-Street cylinder heads, a Performer Plus hydraulic cam with lifters, timing chain and gearset, gasket sets, and all the necessary hardware needed for installation. In dyno testing, the small-block Chevy Power Package Top End Kit (PN 2022) on a 350ci short-block with an Edelbrock Performer Series 600-cfm carburetor made 315 hp and 381 lb-ft of torque with pump gas. The Small-Block Ford kit (PN 2027) on a 302ci short-block with an Edelbrock Performer Series 600-cfm carburetor provided 321 hp and 337 lb-ft of torque.

Wiper Control Unit
American Autowire’s Wiper Motor Low/High Speed Control Module ($89, PN 510187) controls two-speed motors with momentary ground activation and allows an intermittent swipe when the ground switch is held down. The module controls the park function of the wiper to prevent excessive wear on the motor. It includes a locking wedge to incorporate it into an existing accessory module as well as a stand-alone mounting bracket. This electronic module accepts a momentary ground to operate a two-speed “coast-to-park” wiper motor with either a single- or two-speed wiper switch. When the wiper switch is in the “low speed” or “on” position, alternate momentary grounds switch between high- and low-speed motor circuits. When the wiper switch is off, holding the momentary switch to ground activates the “intermittent swipe” option on the low-speed circuit for as long as the momentary ground is held.

Powerhouse Pushrod Checker
Building an engine at home can be a very rewarding experience, but getting it wrong can be frustrating. One of the biggest causes of DIY engine projects gone wrong is incorrect valvetrain geometry. Finding the proper pushrod length is perhaps one of the biggest challenges—if you don’t have the right tools. Powerhouse Products has the solution with their sturdy five-piece pushrod length checking tool set (PN POW101240, $63.50), which can find any popular pushrod length from 5.800 inches through 9.800 inches. Designed like a micrometer, you insert the Pro Pushrod Length Checker in place of a pushrod and unscrew it until the correct length and geometry are achieved. You can read the height right from the etched markings, with each revolution equal to .05 inch.
Jim Meyer Ford IFS
Jim Meyer Racing Products has created a bolt-in IFS for early Mustangs that also fits many Ford and Mercury models from 1960 to 1977. Meyer claims the handling, stopping, and steering improvement in this IFS is no comparison over the old steering box, tower suspension, and all that linkage. With reprogrammed suspension geometry, reduced antidive, and adjustable stance, the new rear-steer A-arm IFS offers as standard equipment power rack-and-pinion steering, 11-inch vented disc brakes (with loads of disc brake options), aluminum adjustable coilover shocks, 1-inch antisway bar, tubular A-arms (not Mustang II) and removable steering arms. It also features a tighter-than-stock turning radius, plus the caster and camber weight is loaded onto the frame, not the inner fender panel.
