1967 Chevy Corvette
Mark Cole • Sonora, CA

Both Mark Cole and his 1967 Chevy Corvette are Northern California natives. The ’Vette was originally bought and sold in Sonora, making Mark the third owner to register the car in the same town. Between the owners it served as a racer sometime in the ’70s, with the fender flares remaining. Mark thought about taking them off, knowing the purists would mock him for keeping them on and not returning the car to stock. At Mark’s shop, Sierra Auto Restoration, he’s gone through the process of hunting down the original parts for a true all-original restoration and just didn’t want to do it for this car. It was time to play. It was time to forget what’s correct and just have fun with the car. He cleaned up the flares and continued with his creation. The LS6 454ci big-block Chevy was choked up by a restrictive set of mufflers, so he replaced them with some ultra high-flow units from Hooker. That gave him 435 hp at the rear wheels, plenty for him to have some fun.
