The quality and appearance of a tube weld is directly related to how tight the gap can be kept. As a bonus, the welding process will also be made much easier. Gapless fitment just got a lot easier with the PipeMaster, which is available for rollbar tubing in sizes from 1/2 inch all the way up to 12 inches (just in case you plan on drag racing your aircraft carrier). Small rods around the circumference conform to the mating shape, and the form is then transferred to the tube by tracing the outline on the pipe. Just cut along your traced outline for a perfect fit. The 1-inch tool sells for $39, and a 2-inch tool for $53.

We took one look at Schott's new Velocity five-spoke, and think they just may have what it takes to hang around. The dry-lake-style motif is updated, and the lugs are hidden via Schott's new Cover-Loc technology, wherein a cover plate fastens by a single center nut, and hides the lugs from view.

EQ Improved Replacement Heads
Engine Quest has released a series of replacement cast-iron heads for '55-86 small-block Chevrolets. Not big news, except for the fact that these have been seriously reworked for superior flow and power, and priced really low. As a supplier to the rebuild market, Engine Quest casts its heads in huge quantities in Australia, using flow cast technology. The antiquated small-block runners and combustion chambers have been replaced with designs employing state-of-the-art flow modeling to put race technology in a replacement head at a bargain basement price. These heads have a thicker-than-stock deck, 167cc intake port volume, a choice of 67cc or 76cc combustion chambers, and valve sizing of either 1.94/1.50 inch or 2.02/160 inch. All as-cast heads have straight plugs, a three-angle valve job, and come bare.
