The quality and appearance of a tube weld is directly related to how tight the gap can be kept. As a bonus, the welding process will also be made much easier. Gapless fitment just got a lot easier with the PipeMaster, which is available for rollbar tubing in sizes from 1/2 inch all the way up to 12 inches (just in case you plan on drag racing your aircraft carrier). Small rods around the circumference conform to the mating shape, and the form is then transferred to the tube by tracing the outline on the pipe. Just cut along your traced outline for a perfect fit. The 1-inch tool sells for $39, and a 2-inch tool for $53.
New Cool Wheel
Lots of companies are coming up with new wheel designs all the time, but it's really hard to come up with a design that withstands the test of time. We took one look at Schott's new Velocity five-spoke, and think they just may have what it takes to hang around. The dry-lake-style motif is updated, and the lugs are hidden via Schott's new Cover-Loc technology, wherein a cover plate fastens by a single center nut, and hides the lugs from view.
Hotrods To Hell
GM A-Body Front Suspension
Last month in our suspension round-up, we forgot to mention the suspension wizards at Hotrods To Hell. Named after the cult '66 hot rod film of the same name, Hotrods To Hell can actually help keep you from going to said place with their new front suspension for '64-72 GM A-bodies. The complete Stage 3 kit includes tubular upper and lower front control arms, B-body spindles, Wilwood six-piston Superlight billet calipers, braided stainless brake lines, 13x1.25-inch GT rotors, 12:1 quick-ratio steering box, a tuned shock/spring package, idler arm, and outer tie rods. Cost on the entire package is $3,595.

Cold Air Intake
Spectre Muscle Car Airbox
Did you know that lowering the temperature of the incoming ambient air by just 10 degrees Fahrenheit will increase your power output between 1.5 and 2 percent? On a 400hp small-block, if you could lower your air temp from 200 to 140 degrees, you'd pick up a minimum of 36 hp. It's no wonder some of our favorite muscle cars employed this technology back in the day. Now an appropriate retro-looking kit is available from Spectre, starting around $200. You'll need to figure out where to put the air inlets, but that's the fun part.

EQ Improved Replacement Heads
Engine Quest has released a series of replacement cast-iron heads for '55-86 small-block Chevrolets. Not big news, except for the fact that these have been seriously reworked for superior flow and power, and priced really low. As a supplier to the rebuild market, Engine Quest casts its heads in huge quantities in Australia, using flow cast technology. The antiquated small-block runners and combustion chambers have been replaced with designs employing state-of-the-art flow modeling to put race technology in a replacement head at a bargain basement price. These heads have a thicker-than-stock deck, 167cc intake port volume, a choice of 67cc or 76cc combustion chambers, and valve sizing of either 1.94/1.50 inch or 2.02/160 inch. All as-cast heads have straight plugs, a three-angle valve job, and come bare.
