1957 Chevy Sedan Delivery
San Diego, CA
Joe Petralia's killer 1957 sedan delivery was built by his buddies over at Bartone Bros. Racing. Well, actually, Michael Bartone built it for himself, but Joe just had to have it! Since it was originally built with no intention to sell, nothing but the best parts were used—to the tune of about $175K, Joe says. Where did all that money go? Well, the 1957 sits on an Art Morrison chassis with coilover suspension, four-link rear, 9-inch Ford rearend, power rack-and-pinion, Wilwood disc brakes, and Budnick wheels. Underhood is a 540hp Bill Mitchell/World Products 427ci Motown small-block Chevy backed by a Keisler five-speed, and fortified with Vintage Air and Painless Performance wiring. The interior consists of Connolly leather with German square-weave carpet, power windows, and a full custom sound system. We'd venture to guess that extremely slick black paint over an arrow-straight, perfectly gapped body soaked up quite a bit of time and cash too. So far, the 1957 has accumulated less than 750 miles since completed, but that number should be steadily climbing soon.
Terri & Gary Bloom
Eden Prairie, MN
Finally! At the ripe old age of 50 (back in 2003, anyway), Terri and Gary Bloom had all of their kids out of the house and through college, so it was high time for them to have a little fun! After about a year and a half of searching, they found a 1974 Corvette roadster with a 454 in pretty good condition. They loaded up and drove to Chicago from Minnesota and trailered it home. Then the real fun began! First, the engine was rebuilt with a mild cam, hi-rise intake manifold, 850-cfm Holley, and Hooker headers with side pipes (naturally). After that the entire interior was replaced, a custom cloth top was made, and the hardtop redone with new vinyl. Next came new red paint, wheels and tires, tunes, and after assembling it all, they were ready to hit the road! Surprise, surprise, Terri and Gary entered the Vette in their first car show and came home with First Place. In the years since then, they've met a number of great people thanks to the Vette and accumulated their fair share of trophies.
