For as long as he can remember, Andy Lee's dream car has been a '68 Plymouth Barracuda with a high-revving small-block and a manual. Oh, and B-5 Blue, please! He finally purchased his base car in 2004 after his first deployment to Iraq. After each deployment (four total now, thank you Andy!) he has fixed or modified the Barracuda to the vision he had in his head the whole time. He's about 90 percent there now.
To get there, the Barracuda has a stroked 340 with all the goodies: Eagle 4-inch crank, Edelbrock 340 aluminum heads, RPM Air-Gap intake, Mopar Purple cam, MSD Performance ignition, Holley 750 double pumper, adjustable rockers, titanium pushrods, electric fuel pump, TTI headers and exhaust, and a lightweight starter.
Rather than just a straight line, Andy wanted an all-around driver's car that he could take to the track, any track, be it a road course, autocross, or dragstrip. He swapped in a Tremec TKO-600 five-speed for heel-toe downshifting, supplementing it with an RMS AlterKtion front suspension and four-link Street Lynx rear suspension, rollbars, and a mini-tub job. And it's quick down the quarter too; Andy took it for a shakedown run, posting a 13.00 at 110, but with no traction in First or Second gear.
