Initially Royce spent a good amount of time with various shades of paint and a detail airbrush trying to give the spokes a bronzy magnesium hue. When he finally had the blend perfect he squirted the wheels, but the glorious result was fleeting as within a few weeks it began to get blotchy. Finally a few drops of brake fluid on the paint resulted in pulling the wheels once again and removing all the paint for the final raw aluminum look. The yellow highlight was framed on the rim by indicating it in on a CNC mill and machining a tiny groove on the inner edge of the paint to give it a natural and sharp break point.
