NHRA rules required a 7-inch tire on the Tempest. "At the Detroit Nationals," Antlocer said, "we had the fastest time at 119.95 mph. We hung in there until the end, but the Ramchargers beat us. They beat me on e.t. because their automatics were so much quicker out of the chute. We were running 7-inch tires, 3,200 pounds on the scale, and Sunoco gas from the track, so the car was Super Stock legal at the time." View Related Article
