Matt Melhorn's '71 Chevelle has appeared previously in PHR's Affordable Dreams contest (April 2007), and we dig the low-buck street vibe of the flat black tractor paint and red graphics. Matt did all the work on his Chevelle by himself in the family two-car garage-including the paintjob, which cost him about $200 in supplies. Matt still hasn't gotten the opportunity to drag race it, but he's planning on it soon. (The computer model tells him 555 hp and an 11.63 e.t.) We really like some of the Chevelle's angles taken by Matt's wife, Kimberly, but we'd recommend setting the exposure a little longer next time and getting more light on the grille with a homemade aluminum foil reflector. (The pictures were very dark and needed some tweaking, which introduced yet more blotchiness into the photo.)
