1995 Ford Mustang Cobra Front Passenger Side
Alex Vrettos' '95 Mustang Cobra is currently the quickest car running radial tires and a stock-style suspension. So far, Alex has gone 7.37 at over 198 mph in the quarter.

1995 Ford Mustang Cobra Alex Vrettos
Car owner and driver, Alex Vrettos hails from Springfield, NJ. Equal doses of courage, coordination, cash, and common sense are requisites for driving the world's quickest radial tire, stock-suspension car.

1995 Ford Mustang Cobra Control Arms
Rules for "stock suspension" classes allow for aftermarket parts, such as the Anthony Jones Engineering control arms and K-frame seen here, but all pick-up points and geometry must remain stock, and be a direct bolt-in.

Here's another view of Vrettos' suspension. Check out the custom subframe connectors, which strengthen and tie together the front and rear.

1995 Ford Mustang Cobra Koni Coilovers
Koni coilovers and Afco springs occupy the stock shock location in this low 7-second Mustang. They are a direct bolt-on in any Fox-body Mustang. The Wolfe Race Craft antisway bar replaces the stock-location sway bar, which is standard practice in the stock-suspension ranks.

1995 Ford Mustang Cobra Interior
Vrettos runs a full interior in his race car, as required by rules. Note the intercooler plumbing just to the right of the driver seat.

1995 Ford Mustang Cobra Seats
The 25.2 chassis certification requires a Funny Car-style jungle gym. DMC Racing out of Halifax, MA, did the precision work. Vrettos maintained the stock interior as much as possible to keep the street vibe.

1995 Ford Mustang Cobra Stock Rear
A surprisingly stock 8.8-inch rear does a reasonably good job of channeling 2,000 hp to the rear tires. Moser 35-spline gun-drilled axles, a lightweight spool, and billet gears are required upgrades at this power level. Still, ring-and-pinion breakage is a part of life.

1995 Ford Mustang Cobra 427 Twin Turbo Engine
A 427-inch twin-turbo small-block Ford screwed together by J&E Performance (Blackwood, NJ) has a lot more oats in the feedbag than its 198-mph trap speed reveals. Tuning by Job Spetter of Turbo People (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY) ramps the power up over a 3.5-second window as to not overpower the tires.
