"A while ago, I acquired a basket case '65 Falcon sedan with the plan of turning it into a 'Shelby Falcon,' taking advantage of the fact that the '65 Falcon and '65 Mustang are mechanically identical. My goal was to have the performance of a Shelby, while maintaining the practicality of a daily driver.
"The body is stock, except for the GT350R-style front valance, the wheel openings, and a small rear spoiler. The color is a dark red metallic and the grille and rockers are blacked-out while the bumpers are body color. The fuel filler would be a Cobra-style racing filler mounted in the '68 Charger position, aft of the left C-pillar, and a round clear foglight would be mounted in the former gas filler location as a backup light. I also envisioned '60s-era Raydot side mirrors with turn signals added.
"For the interior, there would be Recaro seats, Auto Meter gauges, a LeCarra Thick Grip steering wheel, and a modest sound system. For safety, there would be a collapsible steering column, and a perimeter rollcage that would be integrated into the body where possible. The fuel tank would be relocated to above or ahead of the rear axle. The former fuel tank location would be reworked for the spare tire and storage."-Jim Gerdom, artist
