Redemption!
It took more than 30 years, but a rejuvenated Chrysler is finally coming full circle, reentering the ponycar market with the '08 Challenger. You've seen the Challenger concept car, but as we went to press, these new preproduction photos were leaked from inside the Brampton, Ontario, LX-platform plant, where the Dodge Magnum, Dodge Charger, and Chrysler 300 are made. And while Plymouth's Barracuda name is finito, the same basic idea lives on in the forthcoming Challenger. Of the dozen or so photos we saw, it looks like pilot-line Challengers are scattered throughout the Brampton plant, as details of the assembly operation are worked out. In the first photo, the tag affixed to the front bumper support indicates that portions of the body are to be manually welded-probably because those specific assembly stations have not yet been finished.
