Bringing out what is traditionally known as a drag car, Raymond Higginbotham (Blountsville, Alabama) showed what a mild, low-budget ’69 Chevelle is capable of. Higginbotham’s only chassis mods were adding coilovers, a Hotchkis rear sway bar, and some Nitto tires, but the 396-powered Chevy finished right in the middle of the pack, thanks to smooth driving technique and not trying to overpower the track.
