Background
The Weingartner Racing engine, a 350 Chevy based entry that took advantage of circle track technology. With the warm-up pull the tension was pretty high as the guys tried to think of how they'ed tune more power into the engine. During the tuning period the crew worked their magic and found some missing power. You could see these guys were really excited to see their engine run well in the show.

Background
Performance Crankshaft came in with a real budget 318 that showed impressive power. Using Iron Mopar Magnum R/T heads and a two-plane intake, Adney brown put together a combination that mirrors many street engine packages. The engine ran through qualifying and then the finals with no undue drama, not quite pulling enough power to make the finals.

Background
Two-time former champion Jon kaase brought a popular 400 M CHI head combination, a set-up that proved tough to compete with last year. Always one to watch, the Kaase team showed the kind of power they are known for in the warm-up session. Contemplating the tune-up, Kaase elects to leave the Ford alone, making no tuning changes, and then followed up with three qualifying pulls that move this engine to the current lead.

Background
Returning champ Tony Bischoff and his BES racing team settled upon a small block Chevy entry, based on the 400 engine combination. Anticipation was high as the crowd sought of find out if Bischoff was packing the same kind of event winning power that he brought to the contest last year. The warm-up pulls showed very strong numbers, but after a tuning change the engine really broke from the pack, convincingly taking the leading position in qualifying.
