Background
All eyes were on the happenings in dyno cell 1 as McKeown Motorsports brought their big Ford 400M combo up to start the Engine Masters' final eliminations. During the warm-up pulls, the team had to make up some score to claw their way up in the standings. Working to that goal, the activity during the twenty minute tune-up period was nothing short of intense, taking all the allotted time with timing and fuel changes. The changes seemed to hurt the low-end torque numbers and thus the score.

Background
The Power Shop entry was among the smallest entry in this year's challenge, based on a Chevrolet 302 engine combination. Some doubted whether a small displacement engine could compete with the bigger combinations, but the Power Shop entry proves that on a power per cube basis, the little mouse can run with the big dogs. Nice power and clean high rpm performance put this one in a good position for a spot in the money.

Background
The SAM's engine was a strong small block Cheverolet 400, which came in heavy at the bottom of the pull, and then hit like dynamite when the cam and induction tuned in. If the engine had a weakness, it was a dip in the torque curve in the lower mid range, hurting the overall averages. Overall a very strong showing for Chevrolet from the School of Automotive Machinists, currently taking the lead position.
