8:00 - Team 15 Weingartner Racing/Chevy
Weingartner Racing brought a 407-cube small block Chevrolet, and like most competitors selected a carbureted induction system. The tunnel rammed small block sounded crisp and clean during the warm-up period. Weingartner seemed pleased with the outcome during warm-up, and elected to just add a quart of oil during the allotted tuning period. The engine ran through the qualifying pulls with no problems for a score of 2401.1.

9:00 - Team #14 Power Shop Racing Engines/Ford
Power Shop Racing Engines came to the show with a combination based on a Cleveland Ford with CHI cylinder heads and a tunnel ram induction. Team leader Joe Carol informed us that the tunnel ram showed a power gain in the midrange, but with a small loss at the bottom end and at the top, but overall with a better average power curve. Outside of a minor change in the fuel pressure, the team ran the engine through qualifying with no tuning changes. The combination showed good output, with a score of 2539.9, enough for second place in the current standings.

10:00 - Team #13 Tim Zepp Engines/Darin Morgan/Ford
Tim Zepp Engines / Darin Morgan came into competition with a 352-cubic inch small block Ford, running a CHI cylinder head. The engine completed the initial warm-up pulls without complications, looking very strong. An air-bleed change was performed during the tuning period in preparation for the elimination pulls. On the third of the three qualifying pulls the engine refused to take throttle, and the team elected to shut down. The problem was determined to be related to the testing equipment rather than the competitor's engine, and the qualifying session was allowed to be repeated after the necessary corrections were made. The engine ran into qualifying and showed a score of 2540.4

11:00 - Team #12 BTR Perf./Earl Emery Multi-Financial - Oldsmobile
BTR Performance is a company specializing in Oldsmobile performance. The 400 cubic inch engine fired -up and performed nicely during warm-up. Team leader Bill Travato found the engine pulled very nearly the exact same numbers as it had in testing before the event, but decided the mixture was just a touch rich. The team followed-up with a jet change, and confidently let the engine cool down without even testing the new calibration. The engine indeed picked up some score in the elimination pulls, with 2507.2 showing on the board.
