Port Any Head -- Technical Article -- Engine Masters
|
With the stock small intake valve smog heads, and nothing more than a good valvejob to help them along, our solid-cammed 360 dished out a surprising 414.8 hp at 6,200 rpm, and 420.3 lb-ft. at 3,900 rpm, holding on to 400.7 hp at 6,700 rpm. Our formula shows that 199 cfm is the minimum flow required for that peak power output. The 195 cfm we recorded was close, and the heads could well have peaked at some intermediate valve lift like .450 inch, which we didn't record. The engine combo was clearly making use of everything the heads had to offer. View Related Article
