This cutaway shows how a centrifugal blower gets its oil. Unlike Roots blowers, which typically carry their own oil, most centrifugals use pressurized engine oil to lube and cool their gears and bearings. A pressurized oil line plumbed from the engine sprays oil through the brass fitting (arrow) directly at the gear junction. View Related Article
