You should be looking for certain labels on each container of oil. The API (American Petroleum Institute) requires these markings to help customers identify quality oils that meet current standards. One is this round "donut" label, indicating the oil's viscosity in the center, the oil's performance level, on the top, and energy conserving properties, on the bottom.
