An oversight on our part was ordering our cam on a -12 cam core from COMP, which is the traditional early small-block Chevy configuration. Our late roller block has a provision for a thrust plate, which mates with a late-model, small-nose -08 cam core. You can't use the early-type cam nose with the late-style thrust plate, so we had to leave it off and use a thrust button to control the thrust. Another point to note with the late blocks is that the oil gallery bosses will normally need some grinding to clear a double-row timing set. View Related Article
