Barry Rabotnick of Survival Motorsports specializes in the Ford FE-Series big block, so it was not surprise to see an impeccably detailed FE in the fray for the 2013 Challenge. Barry’s engine featured Survival’s recently introduced aluminum medium riser CNC heads, an all new design. Fitted with a dual plane intake manifold and fuel injection, it was clear that this was a well developed unit. Barry obviously had the engine well dialed in, making his first three qualifying pulls nearly back to back. The 433 cubic inch engine had no shortage of power, easily eclipsing the 700 horsepower hurdle with 711 horsepower available at peak, and 612 lb-ft of torque. The FE finished qualifying eliminations with a score of 2537 points.
